High-voltage safety: Xbox Series X uses an internal mains-voltage PSU. Disconnect from power for at least 60 minutes before opening the console to allow capacitor discharge. We strongly recommend a qualified technician handle this swap. Walk-in fitting available at our Forest Lake counter.

    Power Symptoms This PSU Fixes

If your Xbox Series X is showing any of these classic PSU-failure symptoms, a fresh model 1920 internal power supply is the fix.

    Console Won't Turn On

Press the power button and nothing happens. No fan spin, no LED, no boot chime — classic dead-PSU sign.

    Random Mid-Game Shutdowns

Console powers off without warning during gameplay. Worse under load — PSU rails are sagging when the GPU draws hard.

    Power-Cycling Loop

Console turns on, dies, turns on, dies — over and over without ever hitting the dashboard. Failing standby rail.

    Stuck on Orange Standby LED

Front LED glows orange but the console refuses to wake. Standby rail is alive, main rail has dropped out.

    Surge or Storm Damage

Console died after a thunderstorm, brown-out or grid spike. PSU has taken the hit to protect the mainboard — swap and revive.

    Clicking, Buzzing or Coil Whine

Audible ticking, buzzing or high-pitch whine from the back of the console — PSU caps or coils are on the way out.

    Burnt Smell at the Vents

A faint burnt-electronics smell from the rear vents. PSU has popped a capacitor — do not power on again until swapped.

    Boots Then Black Screen

Fan spins up, console seems alive, but no HDMI output and no green boot logo. Sagging rails starve the SoC during boot.

Fitment — Confirm Before You Order

    FITS This Console Only

    • Xbox Series X — console model 1882
    • Internal PSU bay only — not an external brick
    • OEM-spec drop-in — original Series X mainboard connector
    • All 1882 launch and post-launch revisions
    • 1TB and 2TB storage variants

    Does NOT Fit These Consoles

    • Xbox Series S (model 1883) — smaller PSU, different connector
    • Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black special edition (verify model first)
    • Xbox One X (model 1787) — different chassis
    • Xbox One S (model 1681) — different chassis
    • Original Xbox One (model 1540 / 1525) — uses external power brick
    • Xbox 360 of any revision
    • PlayStation 5 / PS4 / PS3 of any revision

Check the model number on the rear sticker of your console — it must read Model 1882. Wrong model = wrong PSU.

Installation Overview — Advanced Workshop Job

PSU replacement is a high-voltage repair. Mains capacitors hold a dangerous charge after the console is unplugged. We strongly recommend a qualified Xbox repair technician handle this. Walk-in service available at our Forest Lake counter.

    Step 1 — Unplug + Wait 60 Minutes

Power down, unplug from mains and leave the console untouched for at least 60 minutes to allow PSU capacitors to discharge.

Step 2 — Open the Series X Chassis

Remove rear case screws and slide off the outer shell. T8 / T9 Torx security drivers required. Work on an ESD mat.

Step 3 — Disconnect the Old PSU

Lift the PSU connector from the mainboard. Free the IEC inlet from the rear panel and unscrew the PSU mounting tabs.

Step 4 — Drop in the New PSU 1920

Seat the new model 1920 PSU into the console bay. Re-fit the mounting screws. Confirm the IEC inlet sits flush at the rear.

Step 5 — Reconnect to Mainboard

Plug the new PSU connector firmly into the mainboard until you feel the latch click. Loose plug = boot fail or random shutdowns.

Step 6 — Test Before Reassembly

Power on with the chassis still open. Confirm fan spin, green LED and full dashboard boot. Then refit the outer shell and screws.

Safety warning: Mains-side PSU repair carries shock and fire risk if mishandled. If you are not trained in mains electronics, do not attempt this. Book the workshop install — the install fee is far less than emergency-room dental work.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Will this PSU fit my Xbox Series X?+
Yes, if your console is the Xbox Series X (model 1882). Check the rear sticker on your console. This PSU is the internal model 1920, the OEM-spec drop-in replacement for every 1882 launch and post-launch revision.
Will it fit Xbox Series S, One X, or Xbox One?+
No. Series S (model 1883) uses a smaller PSU with a different connector. Xbox One X (1787) and One S (1681) have entirely different chassis. Original Xbox One (1540 / 1525) uses an external power brick. This PSU fits Series X console 1882 only.
How do I know my PSU is the failed part?+
Classic PSU-fail signs: console totally dead with no LED, random shutdowns under load, power-cycle loops, stuck on orange standby, clicking or buzzing from the rear, burnt smell at the vents, or boots-then-black-screen. Try a different mains lead and wall socket first to rule out the cable.
Is it safe to install myself?+
PSU swap is mains-voltage work. Capacitors hold a dangerous charge after the console is unplugged — wait at least 60 minutes before opening. If you are not trained in mains electronics, book the workshop install instead. The fitting fee is far less than the cost of a shock injury.
Does it work on Australian 230V mains?+
Yes. The PSU is rated 100-240V AC at 50/60Hz with auto-sensing input. It runs perfectly on Australian 230V 50Hz mains using the standard IEC C7 figure-8 cable that comes with the console.
    Is the cooling fan included?+
Yes. The model 1920 PSU ships as a complete unit with its integrated internal cooling fan. You do not need to transfer the fan from your old PSU. The unit drops in ready-to-run.
    What's the warranty?+
12 months from dispatch against PSU failure under normal console use. Damage from mains surges, drops, water, modding, mishandling during install, or use outside the 100-240V input range is not covered. Keep your order number for any warranty claim.
    What tools do I need?+
A T8 and T9 Torx security driver set, a thin plastic prying tool, an ESD wrist strap and an ESD-safe work mat. Tools are not included in the PSU pack. Pair with an Xbox repair tool kit if you do not already own one.
Can you fit it for me at the Forest Lake counter?+
Yes. Walk in to our counter at Shop 3A, 152 Woogaroo St, Forest Lake QLD 4078 and our techs handle the full disassembly, PSU swap, load test and reassembly with safety verification. Book ahead for fastest turnaround on console work.
How fast does it ship across Australia?+
Orders ship in 2 to 4 business days from our Brisbane warehouse with Australia Post tracking. The PSU ships in an ESD-safe bag inside a padded mailer to protect the board and fan blades during transit anywhere in Australia.
