Is this battery compatible with all Nintendo Switch Lite consoles?
Yes. This AMPLUS HDH-003 battery is compatible with all Nintendo Switch Lite consoles (model HDH-001) regardless of colour or region. All Switch Lite variants โ Yellow, Gray, Turquoise, Coral, Blue, and special editions โ use the same HDH-003 battery. Confirm your model number on the back of the console. If you see HDH-001, this is your battery.
Will this battery fit the original Switch or Switch OLED?
No. The original Nintendo Switch (HAC-001) and Switch OLED (HEG-001) use a different battery โ the HAC-003 โ which has a different capacity, connector, and footprint. The HDH-003 will not fit those consoles. If you need a battery for the original Switch or Switch OLED, contact JPC Mobile on 0480 039 913 and we can advise on the correct part. Check your model number on the back of the console before ordering.
How long does the battery last per charge?
Expect 3โ7 hours of gameplay depending on the title and settings. Lighter games like Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, and Stardew Valley achieve 5โ7 hours. Demanding games like Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom or Pokรฉmon Scarlet/Violet use more power and land around 3โ4 hours. Screen brightness, wireless, and volume all affect play time. Keeping brightness at 50โ70% and using aeroplane mode when offline extends battery life. This matches the performance of a new Switch Lite from the factory.
What tools do I need to install this myself?
You need a Y00 Tri-wing screwdriver for the back panel screws, a Phillips #00 or JIS #000 screwdriver for internal screws, plastic prying tools and a spudger for separating the case and lifting connectors, plastic tweezers for small parts, and 90%+ isopropyl alcohol for the battery adhesive. A hair dryer or heat gun on low heat helps soften the adhesive further. Allow 60โ120 minutes. Installation tools are not included in the box. What are the most important things to know before starting the repair?
There are five things that catch most DIY repairers off guard on the Switch Lite: (1) Discharge below 25% before starting โ a full lithium battery punctured during removal is a fire risk. (2) The battery adhesive is unusually strong โ apply isopropyl alcohol and wait, don't force it. (3) Never use metal tools near the battery โ only plastic prying tools. (4) The shield plate is bonded to the heatsink with thermal paste โ when you remove it, you must clean and reapply thermal compound before reassembly, or the console will overheat. (5) Do not bend the battery during removal โ even slight bending can cause internal shorts that fail or ignite days later.
What does "0-cycle battery" mean and why does it matter?
A 0-cycle battery has never been charged or discharged before delivery. It is entirely factory fresh. Lithium polymer batteries lose capacity with each charge cycle โ after 500 cycles a battery typically holds 70โ80% of original capacity. A used or refurbished battery may arrive with 100 or more cycles already on it, which means reduced capacity from day one. This AMPLUS unit has zero cycles, giving you the full 3570mAh from your first charge and the longest possible lifespan going forward.
What safety protections are built into this battery?
The AMPLUS HDH-003 includes a multi-protection integrated circuit (IC) with five safety systems: overcharge protection stops charging automatically at full capacity; over-discharge protection prevents the battery from draining to a damaging level; short circuit protection cuts power instantly if a short is detected; overcurrent protection limits excessive current draw; and overtemperature protection shuts down if the battery gets too hot. These operate alongside the Switch Lite's own battery management system. The battery is CE, FCC, and RoHS certified, meeting international safety and environmental standards.
Will replacing the battery fix my Switch Lite's power issues?
Battery replacement fixes most power-related issues: rapid drain, short play time, inaccurate percentage reading, random shutdowns, and very slow charging. However, if your Switch Lite shows none of those symptoms but still won't turn on or doesn't respond to charging at all, the issue may be the charging port, power IC, or motherboard rather than the battery. Should I calibrate the battery after installation?
Yes. After installation, run 2โ3 full charge and discharge cycles to calibrate the Switch Lite's battery management system to the new cell. Charge fully to 100%, then play until the battery reaches around 10%, then charge back to 100% uninterrupted. After 2โ3 cycles the percentage display will be accurate and charge time estimates will settle. You may notice the percentage jumping slightly during the first cycle โ this is normal during calibration and resolves on its own. Also dispose of the old battery properly at a council e-waste drop-off or battery recycling point โ do not put lithium batteries in general waste.
How do I make a warranty claim if there is a problem?
The 12-month warranty covers manufacturing defects and premature capacity failure under normal use. If the battery fails or stops holding a charge within the warranty period due to a manufacturing fault, contact JPC Mobile with your order number and a description of the fault. Warranty claims are handled locally at Shop 3a, 152 Woogaroo St, Forest Lake QLD 4078. The warranty does not cover physical damage from incorrect installation, bending, or puncture. If you had the battery installed by JPC Mobile, bring the console in-store and we will assess the issue. If it's a warranty fault, we will organise a replacement with no need to ship to an overseas manufacturer.
