Do not order from the A1398 number alone. Apple used A1398 across several internal revisions, and the DC-in board used in Mid 2012–Early 2013 machines can differ from the board used in Late 2013–Mid 2015 machines. Before ordering, compare the printed reference and the connector, cable and mounting-point layout on your original board with this listing and its photos.
The supplier identifies this item as reference 820-3103-A. Treat that as the supplier's part reference and match the physical board before purchase. The old “2012–2016” wording has been removed because A1398 identifies 15-inch Retina model years through Mid 2015 rather than a separate 2016 A1398 model.
Installation and testing
A no-charge fault can also be caused by the power adapter, battery, logic board, contamination or another component. Diagnose the device before replacing parts. Internal MacBook repair requires disassembly and battery isolation; professional installation is recommended. Test the board before final reassembly and do not bend, tear or force the cable or connector.
