    Keyboard Rivet Screws for MacBook Pro 13 / 15 / 16 & MacBook Air 13 — 50-Piece Repair Set

Replacement keyboard backplate rivet screws for butterfly and Magic Keyboard MacBooks. Apple rivets the keyboard to the top case at the factory — these original rivets get destroyed during removal. Use these OEM-spec replacement rivet screws to reinstall the keyboard cleanly after a sticky-key repair, keyboard swap or top-case repair. Covers Pro 13/15/16 (2016-2020) and Air 13 (2018-2020).

⚠️ Why You Need These for Any MacBook Keyboard Repair

Apple uses dozens of tiny one-shot rivets to hold the keyboard backplate to the top case. The rivets cannot be reused once removed.

    🔩 Rivets Are Single-Use

Factory rivets must be drilled out to access the keyboard. Once removed, they're destroyed and cannot go back in. Replacement screws are mandatory for reassembly.

    ⌨️ Required for Keyboard Swap

Replacing a sticky butterfly key, dead key or full keyboard? You'll lose 50 to 80 rivets per teardown. Stock spares before you start.

🧰 Required for Top Case Swap

Even pulling the top case for trackpad or battery work disturbs the keyboard rivets on most models. Always have replacement screws to hand.

    💧 Liquid-Damage Repairs

Cleaning corrosion under the keyboard? Removing the keyboard means destroying the originals. Fresh hardware is the only way to put it all back together.

🔁 Saves a Whole Top Case

A full top case assembly costs hundreds. A 50-pack of rivet screws lets you keep using the original top case after the keyboard is replaced.

    📦 50-Pack Covers a Full Repair

A typical butterfly keyboard uses 60+ rivets — order more than one set if you want spares for the inevitable dropped screws.

📦 What You Get in the 50-Pack

A single anti-static pack of 50 OEM-spec keyboard rivet screws sized for the Apple butterfly and Magic Keyboard backplate fixings on the listed MacBook models.

    🔩 50 × Rivet Screws

Identical sizing — all 50 are the same standard MacBook keyboard backplate rivet screw. No mixed-size pack to sort through.

    🧲 Anti-Static Resealable Pack

Sealed in an ESD-safe pouch. Reseal between jobs to keep the small parts safe and findable in your workshop.

    🎯 OEM Thread Match

Cut to the same thread pitch and head depth as Apple's factory hardware. Seats flush, holds the keyboard tight, no wobble.

    🛡️ Factory-Quality Plating

Corrosion-resistant plating matched to the original Apple hardware finish. No rust spots inside the top case.

Note: Tools, drill bits, screwdrivers and adhesive are not included. Pair with a Pentalobe P5 + Tri-Point Y000 driver set for a full keyboard repair.

    🔧 Installation Overview

Used at the reassembly stage of any MacBook keyboard or top case repair. Treat as a finishing step, not the start.

    1️⃣ Drill Out Old Rivets

With the top case open, drill the heads off each Apple factory rivet using a 0.9mm drill bit. Vacuum the swarf as you go.

2️⃣ Lift Out the Old Backplate

Carefully lift the old keyboard backplate clear. Tap out the leftover rivet shanks from the underside.

3️⃣ Drop In the New Keyboard

Position the new keyboard or refurbished assembly into the top case recess. Align all rivet holes against the backplate.

    4️⃣ Insert Rivet Screws

Place each replacement rivet screw into a factory hole. Use tweezers to start them — they are very small.

    5️⃣ Tighten With Y000 Driver

Use a Tri-Point Y000 precision driver. Snug, do not over-torque. Work in a star pattern across the keyboard for even pressure.

    6️⃣ Test Every Key

Reassemble the MacBook and run a key test in macOS. Confirm every key registers cleanly before declaring the job done.

⚠️ Highly recommended: Have a professional technician perform this repair. Drilling near the keyboard backplate carries risk of damage to the trackpad ribbon and battery. Walk-in service available at our Forest Lake counter.

👥 Who This Hardware Set Is For

    🛠️ MacBook Repair Shops

Daily MacBook keyboard repairs need bulk rivet stock. The 50-pack covers a single repair with spares.

    ⌨️ Sticky Key Sufferers

Butterfly keyboards stick, repeat keys, or drop keys entirely. These rivet screws let you swap the keyboard without buying a full top case.

    ♻️ MacBook Refurbishers

Bringing used MacBooks back to retail condition. Fresh rivet hardware after every keyboard or top case touch-up.

    💧 Liquid Damage Repairers

Spilled drinks find their way under the keyboard. Cleaning corrosion needs the keyboard out and back in — that means new rivets.

    🏫 School & Fleet IT

MacBook fleets running through warranty? Stock rivet packs to handle out-of-warranty keyboard failures in-house.

    ❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Apple use rivets instead of screws from the factory?+
Rivets save weight, save vertical space and let Apple build the keyboard into the top case as a single sealed assembly. The trade-off is that any keyboard repair becomes a workshop job. These replacement rivet screws make future repairs reusable without buying a whole new top case.
How many rivets does a single MacBook keyboard use?+
Most butterfly-keyboard MacBooks have 60 to 80 rivets holding the keyboard backplate to the top case. The 50-pack covers most of one repair. Order two packs if you want spares for dropped or stripped screws.
What driver bit do I need to fit these?+
A Tri-Point Y000 precision driver. Standard Phillips and Torx will not fit. The Y000 head is part of any decent MacBook repair toolkit — pair with a Pentalobe P5 for the chassis screws.
Will it fit my MacBook M2 or M3?+
No. This pack is built for Intel and M1 MacBooks from 2016 to 2020 only. M2 and M3 generations (A2779, A2780, A2918, A2992, A2681, A3113) use newer keyboard fixings. Check your A-number under About This Mac before ordering.
Does it come with a warranty?+
Hardware fasteners are sold without a long-term warranty. We cover dead-on-arrival faults for 7 days from delivery — for example a stripped head out of the bag or a thread that won't bite. Once installed, normal handling rules apply.
Are these the same as battery screws or trackpad screws?+
No. MacBook battery, trackpad and speaker screws are different sizes and pitches. This 50-pack is sized purely for the keyboard backplate rivets. Order separately if you need fresh battery or trackpad hardware.
Can I install these myself at home?+
Mid-to-high difficulty repair. The rivet swap itself is the easy step — the harder part is opening the MacBook, removing the battery and drilling out the original rivets without damaging nearby flex cables. Confident DIY repairers with a Y000 driver, P5 driver and steady hand can do it. Otherwise book a workshop install.
Will the new screws void my MacBook warranty?+
If your MacBook is still inside Apple's standard warranty or AppleCare period, take it to Apple — third-party hardware repairs typically void cover. These rivet screws are intended for out-of-warranty MacBooks where Apple service is no longer an option or no longer practical.
Can you fit them for me at the Forest Lake counter?+
Yes. Walk in to our Forest Lake counter at Shop 3A, 152 Woogaroo St, Forest Lake QLD 4078. Our techs handle the full MacBook keyboard repair — drill out the old rivets, fit your new keyboard and reassemble using the rivet screws. Booking ahead is best for keyboard work.
How fast does it ship across Australia?+
Orders ship in 2 to 4 business days from our Brisbane warehouse with Australia Post tracking. The rivet pack is small, light and ships safely in a padded mailer anywhere in Australia.
