    Installation Notes — DIY or Walk-In Fit

    An iPhone 11 Pro Max battery swap takes 30-45 minutes for a careful technician. Read these notes before you start. One wrong step can damage the OLED or chassis.

    • Discharge the battery to under 25% before opening. Cuts fire risk if the cell is punctured.
    • Heat the bottom edge with a heat mat or hair dryer. Softens the screen adhesive before lifting.
    • Disconnect the battery FIRST on the logic board. Then unplug the OLED. Protects the screen from spike damage.
    • Pull the adhesive strips slowly at a low angle. If a strip snaps, drip isopropyl alcohol under the cell. Softens the leftover residue.
    • Never pry under a swollen cell. The cell can vent and catch fire. Bring it in to our Forest Lake counter. We remove it safely.
    • Calibrate after install: charge to 100%. Run down to 0%. Charge back to 100% uninterrupted. This seats the gas-gauge IC reading.
    • iOS Battery Health note: iOS shows "Unknown Part" after any non-Apple battery install. Found in Settings > Battery > Battery Health. This is cosmetic only. It does not affect performance. It does not affect charging speed. It does not affect capacity. The TI gas gauge IC still reports cycle count and health correctly.

    • Claim process: bring or post the battery to our Forest Lake counter. Add a short note on the fault. We test, confirm and replace under warranty.

    Yes — Apple has flagged non-original batteries as "Unknown Part" since iOS 13. The notice is cosmetic only. Charging speed works normally. Runtime works normally. Capacity works normally. BMS protection works normally. The TI gas gauge IC reports cycle count and capacity correctly. Removing the warning needs Apple's calibration tool. That tool is only at Apple Authorised Service Providers.

    A swollen lithium cell has built up gas inside the pouch. The gas comes from chemical breakdown. Usually after years of heat and full discharge cycles. Yes, it is dangerous. Stop using the phone right away. Do not puncture the cell. Bring the device in or replace the battery as soon as you can. A punctured swollen cell can vent toxic gas or catch fire.
    Do I need to calibrate the new battery?+
    Yes — once installed, charge the iPhone 11 Pro Max to 100%. Run it down to 0% on normal use. Charge uninterrupted back to 100%. This seats the TI gas gauge IC reading. It also stabilises the Battery Health percentage. Skip calibration and the percentage may jump around for the first few days.
    Will Qi wireless charging still work?+
