    Use the Right Driver — Pentalobe P5 (TR5)

    Pentalobe is a 5-pointed star shape. Apple uses two sizes — P2 on iPhone, P5 on MacBook Air and most MacBook Pro bottoms. The wrong size will not engage cleanly.

    ✅ Pentalobe P5 / TR5

    Correct driver. Five-point star, larger than P2.

    ❌ Pentalobe P2

    iPhone size. Too small. Will spin and strip.

    ❌ Torx T5 or T6

    Six-point star. Wrong shape. Damages the head.

    ❌ Phillips PH00

    Cross-shape. Will not engage and will round it.

    Replace Stripped Screws — 5 Step Guide

    Step 1 — Power Off

    Shut down. Unplug the USB-C charger.

    Step 2 — Lay Flat, Lid Closed

    Place upside-down on a soft surface.

    Step 3 — Remove Old Screws

    Use a fresh P5 driver. Set screws aside in order.

    Step 4 — Discard Stripped Ones

    Replace any rounded or damaged screws.

    Step 5 — Hand-Tighten New Set

    Snug only. Stop the moment they seat flush.

    Will these fit my MacBook Air?+
    Yes if your model is A1932, A2179 or A2337. Find the model number on the underside of the device, just above the regulatory text.
    Do these fit M2 or M3 MacBook Air?+
    No. M2 A2681 and M3 A3113 use a redesigned chassis with a different screw spec. The 15-inch M2 A2941 also uses a different screw.
    How many screws come in the set?+
    10 screws. The bottom case uses 8. The other 2 are spares for stripped or lost replacements during your repair.
    What driver do I need?+
    A Pentalobe P5 driver, also called TR5. Phillips, Torx and the smaller P2 iPhone driver will all damage the head. The driver is not included.
    Is the colour an exact match?+
    The gold finish best matches Apple Gold MacBook Air originals. Also acceptable on Silver and Space Grey if exact colour match is not critical.
    Are these genuine Apple screws?+
    No. They are aftermarket replacements machined to the correct head, thread pitch and length. They drop in like the original.
    One of my screws is rounded — can I still get it out?+
    A screw extractor or rubber band trick can sometimes work. Drop in to our Forest Lake store if you would prefer a tech to remove it for you.
    How tight should I do them up?+
    Hand-tight only. Stop the moment the screw seats flush. Over-tightening is the fastest way to strip a P5 head and crack the case thread.
    Do these fit MacBook Pro too?+
    No. MacBook Pro models also use Pentalobe P5 but the screw length differs. These are MacBook Air 13-inch A1932 / A2179 / A2337 only.
    What is the warranty?+
    7-day dead-on-arrival replacement only. As with all hardware screws no extended warranty applies once installed.
