    Confirm It Is The Cap, Not The Stick Module

    Two very different faults get blamed on the thumbstick. Check before you buy.

    • Rubber looks worn, shiny, peeled or cracked? That is the cap. This part fixes it.
    • The cap rotates loosely under your thumb? That is worn cap rubber, not stick failure.
    • Thumb slips off during play but aim tracks true? Cap problem.
    • Character walks or camera creeps with no input? That is stick drift.
    • Drift comes from the electronic sensor inside the analog module.
    • A new cap will never cure drift. The module itself must be replaced.
    • We offer analog module replacement as an in-store service.

    Install Notes — Read Before Fitting

    This is a true replacement cap, not a slip-on cover. The controller must be opened.

    • Power down and unpair the controller before you start.
    • Release the middle trim clips with an opening pick. Work slowly.
    • Remove the rear shell screws with a Phillips PH00 driver.
    • Disconnect the battery connector before touching the board.
    • Handle the ribbon cables gently. They tear easily.
    • Pull the old cap straight up off the stick shaft. Press the new cap on firmly.
    • Check every clip and cable seats home during reassembly.

    This is a true replacement cap, not a slip-on cover. The old cap comes off the stick shaft. The new cap presses on in its place.

    Slip-on covers sit over worn rubber and often still spin. A real cap swap is the permanent fix.

    Will this fix stick drift? +

    No. Drift comes from the electronic sensor inside the analog module. This cap is only the rubber and plastic top.

    The rubber layer wears and separates from the plastic core underneath. The loose rubber then rotates as you play.

    Yes. The cap base sits wider than the faceplate opening. The shell must come apart to swap it.
