Use this replacement when the original flat data ribbon has been torn, creased, worn at the contacts or damaged during servicing. The cable carries data between the optical-drive electronics and the console. A damaged connection can contribute to disc-detection or reading faults, but a cable replacement is not guaranteed to resolve every disc-drive problem.

What this cable may help repair
A replacement data ribbon may be appropriate when inspection confirms visible damage, contaminated contacts or an unreliable connection at the existing cable. Similar symptoms can also be caused by a faulty laser, optical-drive board, power connection, damaged ZIF connector, motherboard fault, software issue or damaged disc. Diagnose the console before ordering and inspect both sockets carefully.
Installation information
Internal PS5 work involves delicate connectors and electrostatic-sensitive components. Disconnect the console from power before disassembly, use suitable ESD precautions and release each ZIF lock before removing the ribbon. Do not pull against a locked connector, force the cable, sharply crease it or touch the exposed contacts unnecessarily.
Professional installation is recommended. Damage caused while opening the console or fitting the part can affect other components and is not evidence that the replacement cable was faulty.
