    This is a brand-new GreenCell A1405 battery for the MacBook Air 13-inch. It fits laptop models A1369 (2010-2011) and A1466 (2012-2013). It replaces original battery part numbers A1377, A1405 and A1496. Capacity is 7200mAh at 7.4V, giving 53Wh of energy. Order codes MC503, MC504, MC965, MC966, MD231, MD232, MD760 and MD761 are covered. The lithium-ion cells are factory tested for voltage, capacity and charge rate. It fixes fast drain, shutdowns and the Service Battery warning. The battery screws in with no adhesive. Install difficulty is easy. A 12-month warranty covers every battery.     Confirm It Is The Battery First

    Charger and board faults mimic a dead battery. Check these before you buy.

    • Hold Option and click the battery icon in the menu bar. Read the condition.
    • "Service Battery" or "Replace Now" means the cell is worn.
    • Check the cycle count in System Report under Power. These batteries rate 1000 cycles.
    • Test the MagSafe charger on another MacBook if possible.
    • No charge light at all? The charger or charge port may be at fault.
    • Reset the SMC before blaming the battery. It clears many charging glitches.
    • Trackpad stiff or clicking badly? The old cell may be swollen underneath.
    • Not sure? Bring it in. We test MacBook batteries over the counter.

    Install Notes — Read Before Fitting

    This is one of the easiest MacBook repairs. No adhesive is involved.

    • Shut the MacBook down fully before opening. Unplug the charger.
    • Remove the bottom cover screws with a Pentalobe P5 driver.
    • Note the screw positions. Two are longer than the rest.
    • Disconnect the battery connector before touching anything else.
    • Remove the battery screws with a Torx T5 driver. Lift the old cell out.
    • Never pry or bend a swollen cell. Punctured lithium cells can ignite.
    • Drop the new battery in, screw it down and reconnect.
    • Difficulty: easy. We can also fit it at our Forest Lake counter.

    How do I check which MacBook Air I have? +

    Click the Apple menu, then About This Mac. The year and size appear there.

    The model number (A1369 or A1466) is also etched on the bottom cover.

    My old battery says A1377 or A1496. Does this replace it? +

    Yes. A1377, A1405 and A1496 share the same connector and shape. This battery replaces all three in the listed laptops.

    A1377 shipped in 2010 models, A1405 in 2011-2012, A1496 in 2013.

    Does it fit my 2014, 2015 or 2017 MacBook Air? +

    Those A1466 models use the A1496 battery, which shares this connector. Contact us with your exact year before ordering.

    Does it fit the 11-inch MacBook Air? +

    No. The 11-inch Air (A1370 / A1465) uses a smaller A1406 or A1495 battery.

    This battery is shaped for the 13-inch body only.

    Does it fit the Retina or M1 MacBook Air? +

    No. The Retina (A1932, 2018-2019) and M1 (A2337, 2020) use completely different batteries.

    This part suits the older aluminium wedge Airs only.

    Will this clear the Service Battery warning? +

    How hard is the install? +

    Yes. Charge to 100% and leave it plugged in for two more hours. Then run it down until the MacBook sleeps.
