๐ง Installation โ 5 Simple Steps
Joy-Con battery replacement is one of the easiest gaming repairs. No soldering, no adhesive, no heat required.
Step 1
Remove the 4 Y-type tri-wing screws from the back of the Joy-Con using a Y00 screwdriver.
Step 2
Use a plastic opening pick to slide along the edges and release the back panel clips. Do not force or bend.
Step 3
Disconnect the old battery JST connector from the motherboard. Pull straight โ never pry with metal tools.
Step 4
Lift out the old battery. Connect the new AMPLUS HAC-006 battery to the socket. Press firmly until it clicks.
Step 5
Snap the back panel on and reinstall the 4 screws. Power on and charge to 100% to calibrate the battery.

Does this battery fit both left and right Joy-Con?+
Yes. Nintendo uses the same HAC-006 battery in both left and right Joy-Con controllers. If both are draining fast, order two โ one for each. The same installation process applies to both left and right.
Does this fit Switch OLED Joy-Cons?+
Yes. Switch OLED Joy-Cons use the same detachable design as the original Switch. HAC-015 and HAC-016 controller part numbers are the same across both consoles. The HAC-006 battery fits Switch OLED Joy-Cons. It does not fit the Switch Lite โ that console has controllers built into the chassis with no detachable Joy-Cons.
How long does the battery last after replacement?+
Up to 20 hours of wireless gameplay โ matching Nintendo's official specification. Real playtime depends on usage: motion controls, HD rumble, and IR camera use more power. Most users see 10โ20 hours before a low battery warning. Charge time is ~3.5 hours. Under normal daily use, expect 2โ3 years before the new battery needs replacing.
Is soldering required?+
No soldering at all. The AMPLUS HAC-006 battery has a pre-wired JST connector already attached. Unplug the old battery from the motherboard socket and plug in the new one โ like unplugging a small cable. No heat gun, soldering iron, or flux needed. This makes it one of the most beginner-friendly repairs in gaming.
What tools do I need?+
You need a Y00 tri-wing screwdriver for the four back panel screws โ standard Phillips drivers will not fit. A plastic opening pick or spudger helps separate the back panel and lift the battery without bending it. Never use metal tools near the battery. The battery may have light adhesive โ a small amount of isopropyl alcohol around the edge softens it. Tools are sold separately from electronics and repair stores.
Is this a genuine Nintendo battery?+
No โ this is an AMPLUS aftermarket battery, not a genuine Nintendo OEM part. It meets the same HAC-006 specifications: 525mAh, 3.7V, same dimensions, same connector. AMPLUS is a reputable third-party battery brand sold by established Australian retailers. CE and RoHS certified and backed by a 12-month warranty. Genuine Nintendo batteries are not sold separately in Australia, making quality aftermarket parts like this the standard repair solution.
Will this void my Joy-Con Nintendo warranty?+
Opening Joy-Con controllers does void the Nintendo manufacturer warranty. However, Nintendo's warranty only lasts 12 months from purchase. Controllers from 2017โ2023 already have expired warranties. For most customers, DIY battery replacement has no impact on active warranty coverage. If your console is within its 12-month Nintendo warranty, contact Nintendo Australia before opening the controller.
Is this battery safe to use in my Joy-Con?+
Yes. The AMPLUS HAC-006 includes a built-in protection circuit that prevents overcharging, over-discharging, short circuits, and overtemperature events. CE and RoHS certified. As with any lithium battery, do not bend, puncture, or expose it to direct heat during removal or installation.

What does the 12-month warranty cover?+
The 12-month warranty covers manufacturing defects and premature capacity failure under normal use. If the battery stops holding charge or fails due to a fault, contact JPC Mobile with your order number. Warranty claims are handled locally at Forest Lake Brisbane. Physical damage from incorrect installation, bending, or puncture is not covered. Normal wear from extended charge cycles is also not covered.
