Frequently Asked Questions
What is a pull-a part and how is it different from new parts?+
A pull-a part is a genuine Samsung part taken from a working device. This charging port came from a real Galaxy Tab A9 Plus. Samsung made it in their factory. It worked fine in the original tablet. We tested it before removing it. New aftermarket parts are made by other companies, not Samsung. They try to copy the design but quality varies. Pull-a parts give you real OEM quality. You know it works because it already worked in a tablet. The trade-off is it has some use on it. But charging ports last for years. You get genuine Samsung quality at a lower price. Better than cheap copies that might fail fast.
How do I know if my tablet needs a new charging port?+
First, try a few things to rule out other problems. Test with a different USB-C cable. Cables wear out faster than ports. Try a different wall charger too. Clean the port with a wooden toothpick to remove lint. If the cable wobbles a lot, that is a sign of port wear. If you have to hold the cable at an angle to charge, the port is likely damaged. Very slow charging (8+ hours) points to port issues. If your tablet charges fine but won't connect to a computer, the port data pins may be bad. If none of your cables work and you tested cleaning, you likely need a new port.
How do you test the parts before selling them?+
Before we remove the port, we test the whole tablet. We plug in a charger and cable. We check that charging starts. We watch the battery go up. We test data transfer by connecting to a computer. We check that fast charging works with the right charger. After removal, we look at the port under a magnifier. We check for bent pins, corrosion, or damage. We check the flex cable for tears. Any part that fails a test or looks damaged gets thrown out. Only parts that pass all tests get sold. This means you get a part we know works.
Why is this repair considered advanced?+
To reach the charging port, you must remove the screen first. The screen is glued down with strong adhesive. You need to heat it to soften the glue. Too little heat and it won't come off. Too much heat and you damage the display. You use picks to slowly pry the screen up. Even pros sometimes crack screens doing this. Once the screen is off, you must disconnect many cables. You have to take out brackets and parts. The charging port connects to the main board with tiny connectors. They break easily if you're not careful. Putting it all back together requires new adhesive. This is why we suggest letting a pro do it.
Will this part restore fast charging to my tablet?+
Yes, this port supports 15W Samsung Adaptive Fast Charging. If your tablet used to fast charge but stopped, a worn port is often the cause. The port talks to the charger to set the right speed. If that circuitry is damaged, it falls back to slow charging. This genuine Samsung port has all the right circuitry. It can negotiate fast charging like when your tablet was new. But you still need the right charger and cable. Use a 15W or higher charger that supports fast charging. Use a good quality USB-C cable. Cheap cables can limit charging speed even with a good port.
Will this fit my Galaxy Tab A9 (not Plus)?+
No, this port only fits the Tab A9 Plus 11 inch model. The smaller Tab A9 8.7 inch (SM-X110, X115, X116) uses a different port design. The connectors and size are not the same. You cannot make this part work in the smaller tablet. Check your model number before you order. Go to Settings, then About Tablet. Look for Model Number. If it says SM-X210, SM-X215, or SM-X216, this is the right part. If it says SM-X110, SM-X115, or SM-X116, you need a different port. We may have that part too. Just search our store or contact us.
My tablet charges but won't connect to my computer. Will this help?+
Maybe, but check software first. The USB-C port has power pins and data pins. Sometimes the data pins fail while power pins still work. That means charging works but file transfer doesn't. But computer issues can also be software. Make sure USB debugging is off unless you need it. Check that your tablet is set to File Transfer mode, not just Charging. Try a different USB cable rated for data. Try a different USB port on your computer. If you've tried all that and it still won't connect, the data pins in your port may be damaged. A new port would fix that. This pull-a part has working data pins since we tested file transfer before removal.
How long do pull-a part charging ports typically last?+
Charging ports last a long time if you treat them well. USB-C ports are rated for about 10,000 plug cycles. Most people charge once or twice a day. That means years of use. Pull-a parts come from tablets that may have been used for a year or two. But that still leaves thousands of cycles left. The bigger issue is physical abuse. Yanking cables out fast wears ports. Plugging in cables at angles bends pins. Letting lint build up damages contacts. If you're gentle with your cables and keep the port clean, this part should last several more years. We only sell ports that pass our tests. They have plenty of life left.
Is this better than buying a cheap aftermarket part?+
For most people, yes. Cheap aftermarket parts vary wildly in quality. Some work fine. Many fail within months. Some don't fit right. Some don't support fast charging properly. The cheap price means corners get cut. Maybe cheaper materials. Maybe looser tolerances. Maybe missing features. A genuine Samsung pull-a part is the real thing. Samsung made it to their exact specs. It proved it works in a real tablet. You know what you're getting. The price is often similar to good aftermarket parts. But you get confirmed OEM quality. For a repair this difficult, you want a part you can trust. Doing the repair twice because a cheap part failed is no fun.
