PS5 Display Symptoms This Replacement Fixes
If your PS5 powers on (white light, beep, controller pairs) but your TV stays blank or shows artifacts — and a different HDMI cable plus a different TV input did not help — the port itself is damaged. These six symptoms a port replacement resolves.
No Signal to TV
PS5 boots normally — fan spins, white light on, controller pairs — but the TV reports "No Signal". The most common HDMI port failure mode and the fault this part resolves.
Loose or Wobbly Port
HDMI cable plugs in but moves freely, falls out under its own weight, or only works at a specific angle. Solder pads have lifted or cracked from leverage damage.
Intermittent Display
Picture cuts in and out mid-game, signal drops every few minutes, or only displays after wiggling the cable. Internal pin contact is failing under load.
Visibly Broken Port
Plastic tongue inside the port is cracked, missing or sitting at an angle. Pins bent or pushed in. Usually caused by a tugged or yanked HDMI cable.
Lost 4K, HDR or VRR
Console drops back to 1080p or 60Hz only. HDR cannot enable. VRR greys out in PS5 settings. PSVR2 fails to handshake. Bandwidth-rated pins are damaged.
Sparkles, Snow or Artifacts
Image displays but is full of pixelated sparkles, snow, green flashes or random colour blocks. Damaged differential pairs inside the port socket.
Most Challenging PS5 Repair — Professional Installation Required
This listing is the connector only. Installation requires expert micro-soldering and hot-air rework. We strongly recommend professional fitting — a botched install can lift pads, short the APU rails or permanently brick the console.
Equipment Required
Hot-air rework station, micro-soldering iron (T245 or T470 fine tip), 20-40x stereo microscope, ESD-safe workbench, halogen-free no-clean flux paste, desoldering wick, leaded or low-temp solder paste, Kapton tape.
Risks If Done Wrong
Lifted pads (often unrecoverable), torn ground plane, shorted APU rails, damaged surrounding 0402 capacitors, blown HDMI driver IC, permanently bricked console with no warranty path back to Sony.
Skill Level
Expert micro-soldering only — fifty or more successful HDMI port jobs strongly recommended. This is not a first-time soldering project. Beginners almost always brick the console.
Workshop Install Available
Bring your console to our Forest Lake workshop and our bench tech will handle the install. Most jobs returned within 3-7 business days, signal-tested with a 4K HDR display before pickup.
Why True HDMI 2.1 Matters On Your PS5
A cheap HDMI 2.0 connector "fits" the same footprint but cannot deliver the full PS5 feature set. This is a true HDMI 2.1 part with the full 48 Gbps spec — everything Sony engineered the PS5 to output.
4K at 120Hz Gaming
Full PS5 high-frame-rate output for Call of Duty, Destiny 2, Fortnite Performance Mode and Gran Turismo 7. HDMI 2.0 caps out at 4K at 60Hz — losing half the frames Sony promised.
48 Gbps Bandwidth
Full HDMI 2.1 ultra-high-speed pipe. Required for 4K 120Hz with 12-bit colour, 8K 60Hz output, and Display Stream Compression handshake.
HDR10 and Dolby Vision Pass
Full high dynamic range support. Cheap ports often drop HDR metadata — washing out PS5 games and 4K UHD Blu-ray playback.
Variable Refresh Rate (VRR)
Smooth tear-free gaming on VRR-capable TVs. HDMI 2.1 is required — VRR will simply grey out in PS5 settings if the port cannot pass the bandwidth.
eARC Audio Pass-Through
Full lossless Dolby Atmos and DTS:X audio to your soundbar or AVR. eARC needs the full HDMI 2.1 spec — not delivered by HDMI 2.0 fake-replacement parts.
PSVR2 Headset Handshake
PSVR2 connects to PS5 via the HDMI port. A degraded port causes handshake failures and tracking dropouts. OEM-spec HDMI 2.1 is essential for PSVR2 owners.
ALLM Auto Low-Latency
Auto Low-Latency Mode triggers your TV into game mode when PS5 boots. Needs the HDMI 2.1 control channel — degraded ports drop ALLM and add input lag.
HDCP 2.3 Content Protection
Full HDCP 2.3 handshake — required for Netflix 4K, Disney+ Dolby Vision and 4K UHD Blu-ray. Cheap ports often fail HDCP and drop streaming to 1080p.
Who Buys A PS5 HDMI Port Replacement Connector
PS5 Owners With Broken Ports
Tugged HDMI cable, console fall, kid pulled it out the wrong angle, dog tripped on the cord. The most common PS5 hardware failure — and the cheapest fix vs replacing the whole console.
Console Repair Shops
Bread-and-butter PS5 repair. Stocking true HDMI 2.1 parts means no callback warranty headaches when the customer plugs in PSVR2 or a 120Hz OLED later.
Micro-Soldering Specialists
Board-level repair pros who specialise in console work. Need OEM-spec connectors for high-margin specialist jobs and predictable hot-air reflow profiles.
PS5 Refurbishers and Flippers
Buy broken PS5s on eBay, Gumtree or Facebook Marketplace, replace the HDMI port, resell. The single highest-margin console repair flip in Australia right now.
Gaming Cafes and Arcades
High-use console fleets. HDMI ports get pulled hundreds of times a week — keeping spares on the shelf means no fleet downtime when a unit fails mid-tournament.
eSports Teams and Streamers
Uptime is income. A broken HDMI port mid-stream means lost subscriber revenue. Pre-bought spare in the kit bag means a fast bench fix instead of a multi-week RMA cycle.
Insurance and Warranty Assessors
Sourcing parts for accidental-damage and contents-insurance claims. Needs documented OEM-spec part with traceable Australian-stocked supplier and tax-invoice receipts.
Liquid-Damage Recovery Jobs
Spilled drinks, flooded entertainment unit, roof leak. After ultrasonic board cleanup, the HDMI port often needs replacement due to corroded contact pins and dendrite growth.
PSVR2 Owners
PSVR2 connects through the PS5 HDMI port. A marginal port that "works" for normal gaming will drop the PSVR2 handshake — only true HDMI 2.1 hardware passes the headset's full bandwidth requirements.
Game Studios and QA Labs
PlayStation devkit and consumer-hardware test fleets. Engineering teams keep replacement HDMI ports on the shelf for repair-in-place rather than long RMA cycles that block QA milestones.
Verified Compatibility — Read Before Ordering
Fits all original PS5 motherboards. Check the model number on the back of your console — printed on the silver label near the serial sticker.
Fits These PS5 Models
PS5 Disc Edition
CFI-1000A, CFI-1100A, CFI-1200A — all original Disc Edition motherboards (2020-2022)
PS5 Digital Edition
CFI-1000B, CFI-1100B, CFI-1200B — all original Digital Edition motherboards (2020-2022)
Does Not Fit — Do Not Order For These
PS5 Slim (CFI-2000)
Different motherboard layout and connector mount — not vendor-confirmed. Do not risk it on a Slim.
PS5 Pro (CFI-7000)
Different motherboard, different connector footprint and shielding — not compatible.
PS4, PS4 Pro, PS4 Slim
Same Type A appearance but different bandwidth class, different solder footprint. Use the PS4-specific HDMI port.
Xbox Series X or S
Different solder pattern and shielding — will not seat on Xbox motherboard pads. Use the Xbox-specific HDMI part.
Nintendo Switch and Dock
Switch HDMI is on the dock board, totally different footprint, mount and bandwidth class.
Xbox One, Xbox 360
Earlier Xbox motherboards use HDMI 1.4 / 2.0 connectors with a different solder footprint.
Before ordering: Try a different HDMI cable and a different TV input first. If both fail, the port itself is damaged and this replacement is the right part. Confirm your model number — flip the console over and read the CFI number near the serial sticker.

OEM-Spec HDMI 2.1 vs Cheap Bargain-Bin Knock-Off
Side-by-side — what you actually get with a true HDMI 2.1 OEM-spec part vs the bargain-bin "PS5 HDMI port" that is secretly a HDMI 2.0 component re-labelled.
Three-Step Triage Before You Order
Run these checks first. If all three fail, the HDMI port itself is damaged and this connector is the right replacement part.
Step 1 — Swap the HDMI Cable
Use a known-good Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 cable (NOT the supplied Sony cable). Cheap or damaged cables cause identical symptoms.
Step 2 — Try a Different TV Input
Move the cable to a different HDMI input on the same TV. TV-side ports fail too. If a different input works, the TV is the fault, not the PS5.
Step 3 — Try a Different TV
Plug the PS5 into another TV, monitor or AVR. If still no signal — and the PS5 white light is on — the PS5 HDMI port is the fault and needs replacement.
