Does this battery fit my Nintendo Switch and Switch OLED?
Yes. The HAC-003 battery is compatible with the original Nintendo Switch (HAC-001, both the 2017 and 2019 revision) and the Nintendo Switch OLED (HEG-001). These two consoles share the same battery footprint and connector. You do not need a different battery for the Switch OLED. Before ordering, confirm your model number by checking the back of the console. HAC-001 = original Switch. HEG-001 = Switch OLED. This battery does not fit the Switch Lite.
Does this battery fit the Nintendo Switch Lite?
No. The Switch Lite (HDH-001) uses a different battery โ the HDH-003. That battery has a different capacity, different connector, and different footprint. Installing a HAC-003 in a Switch Lite is not possible. If you need a Switch Lite battery replacement, contact JPC Mobile on 0480 039 913 for availability of the correct HDH-003 unit.
How long will the battery last per charge after replacement?
Expect 3โ6 hours of handheld play depending on the game. Graphically demanding games like Breath of the Wild or TOTK consume more power and land toward 3 hours. Less intensive titles like Stardew Valley or Pokรฉmon can reach 5โ6 hours. This matches the performance of a brand new original Switch battery. Streaming video via YouTube or Netflix is lighter on the battery than gaming and typically extends play time. Enabling aeroplane mode when not using online features also extends battery life.
What tools do I need to install this battery?
You need a Tri-wing Y00 screwdriver for the outer casing screws and a Phillips #00 screwdriver for the internal screws. Opening picks or a spudger help with separating the back panel and carefully lifting ribbon cable connectors. Standard hardware store screwdrivers will not work โ the Tri-wing Y00 is a Nintendo-specific head. These tools are available from electronics repair stores and online. Should I calibrate the battery after installation?
Yes. After installing the new battery, run 2โ3 full charge and discharge cycles. Charge the Switch to 100%, then play until the battery reaches around 10%, then charge back to 100%. This calibrates the Switch's battery management system to accurately read the new cell's capacity. Battery percentage accuracy and charge time estimates improve after calibration. You may notice the percentage display jumping slightly during the first cycle โ this is normal and settles after a few cycles.
How do I know my Switch battery needs replacing?
The most common signs are a fully charged battery lasting only 1โ2 hours, random shutdowns during play, the percentage dropping rapidly from 40% to 0%, and the console getting warm in handheld mode. You can check battery health in Settings โ System โ System Information, though Nintendo does not display a detailed health percentage. If the console only works while plugged into the dock or a charger, the battery has likely failed completely. A battery that swells and causes the back panel to bow outward needs urgent replacement โ do not continue using a swollen battery.
