🔧 When Do You Need a Replacement SIM Tray?
The SIM tray on a Samsung Galaxy S20 is a small plastic and metal component. It slides into the left side of the phone. It holds the Nano SIM and microSD card in place. It can be damaged or lost in a number of ways.

🔧 How to Install Your New SIM Tray
This is a tool-free replacement. No need to open the phone. The entire swap takes under two minutes.
Step 1
Eject the Old Tray
Find the small eject hole on the left side of the phone. It is beside the tray slot. Push a SIM pin or paperclip into it. The tray pops out slightly.
Step 2
Remove the Old Tray
Grip the tray gently and slide it straight out of the phone. Do not rotate or twist. The tray slides out in one direction only. Note the card positions.
Step 3
Transfer Your Cards
Move your Nano SIM and microSD card from the old tray into the new tray. Each card sits in a shaped slot. Press gently until each card lies flat and does not move.
Step 4
Insert the New Tray
Align the tray with the slot. Slide it in straight until it sits flush with the phone body. Do not force it. The tray clicks into position when correctly aligned.

Yes. The same tray fits SM-G980 (S20), SM-G986 (S20+), and SM-G988 (S20 Ultra). All three use the same tray dimensions.
This tray is Cosmic Black only. It does not fit S20 phones in Cloud Blue, Cloud Pink, or Cosmic Gray. Check your phone's colour before ordering.
What is the difference between single SIM and dual SIM trays?+
A single SIM tray holds 1x Nano SIM card and 1x microSD card. A dual SIM tray holds 2x Nano SIM cards but no microSD. The two types are not interchangeable — they have different internal layouts.
Australian S20 models are typically the global variant with a single SIM plus microSD configuration. Remove your current tray to check which type you have before ordering.
Do I need to open the phone to replace the SIM tray?+
No. The SIM tray slides out of the side of the phone using the eject hole. No screws, no back removal, no heat gun. This is one of the simplest phone repairs possible.
Push a SIM pin into the eject hole. Slide out the old tray. Move your cards to the new tray. Slide it back in. The whole process takes under two minutes.
My phone says "no SIM detected" — will a new tray fix this?+
Possibly. A bent or worn tray stops the SIM card from making good contact. Replacing the tray fixes this if the tray is the problem.
If the error continues after the tray swap, the motherboard SIM reader may be damaged. That is a separate repair. Try the tray first — it is the simplest and lowest-cost fix.
Why does the colour of the SIM tray matter?+
The SIM tray sits flush on the outside of the phone. It is fully visible on the left side when the phone is face-up. A mismatched colour is immediately noticeable against the phone's frame.
Samsung colour-matches all external components including the tray, buttons, and frame. Cosmic Black trays match the Cosmic Black S20 frame exactly. They are not made for other phone colours.

Will replacing the SIM tray affect the phone's water resistance?+
The Samsung Galaxy S20 has an IP68 water resistance rating. The SIM tray includes a rubber gasket that seals the tray slot. This gasket helps maintain water resistance when the tray is installed correctly.
A damaged tray with a torn gasket can cause water resistance to fail. A new tray restores the seal. Seat the tray flush and fully clicked in before getting the phone wet.
