3D Analog Joystick Module for Xbox Elite Series 2 Model 1797
Internal 3D analog joystick module for the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller. It fits Model 1797 only. The Elite Series 2 uses its own stick design. Standard Xbox One and Series X sticks are different. This module fixes stick drift at the source. It also fixes creeping, dead zones and off-centre sticks. It uses ALPS-style potentiometer sensors with a threaded stem. One module suits the left or right stick position. The outer thumbstick cap is not included. Your magnetic Elite caps clip straight back on. Soldering is required to fit this part. Recalibrate in the Xbox Accessories app after install.
Signs Your Joystick Module Has Failed
These faults trace back to worn potentiometer tracks inside the stick.
Stick Drift
Your aim or character moves with no input.
Creeping Camera
The view slowly slides in one direction.
Dead Zones
The stick ignores small movements near centre.
Won't Centre
The stick rests off-centre after you let go.
Loose Or Wobbly Stick
The stick feels sloppy with worn-out spring return.
No Stick Click
Pressing the stick no longer registers L3 or R3.

Confirm It Is The Module Before You Solder
Run these checks first. Some drift cases need no new part.
- Update the controller firmware in the Xbox Accessories app.
- Check the stick input on the app's test screen.
- Adjust the dead zone settings and retest the stick.
- Clean around the stick base with isopropyl alcohol.
- Dust and debris cause many early drift cases.
- Drift on both profiles points to a hardware fault.
- Persistent drift after cleaning means worn potentiometer tracks.
- Only the drifting stick needs a new module.
Install Notes — Read Before You Start
- This is a solder-in part, not a plug-in part.
- Desolder all module pins cleanly before lifting it out.
- Forcing the old module can rip the copper pads.
- Torn pads usually make the board unrepairable.
- Use an anti-static mat and strap at all times.
- The rear grips hide the T8 security Torx screws.
- The outer thumbstick cap is not included here.
- Your magnetic Elite caps snap onto the threaded stem.
- Recalibrate the stick in the Xbox Accessories app after fitting.
Difficulty: advanced. Confident soldering skills are essential. Not comfortable soldering? Our Forest Lake team can fit it in-store.
