PS5 Display Symptoms This Replacement Fixes

No Signal to TV
PS5 boots normally — fan spins, white light on, controller pairs — but the TV reports "No Signal". The most common HDMI port failure mode and the fault this part resolves.
Loose or Wobbly Port
HDMI cable plugs in but moves freely, falls out under its own weight, or only works at a specific angle. Solder pads have lifted or cracked from leverage damage.

How do I know my PS5 needs an HDMI port replacement?+
Run three quick checks first — try a different HDMI cable, try a different TV input, try a different TV altogether. If all three fail and your PS5 still powers on with the white light, the port itself is the most likely cause. Also visually inspect the port for a cracked plastic tongue, bent pins, a wobbly socket, or a port sitting at a tilted angle.
Can I install this myself?+
Only if you have expert micro-soldering experience. This is widely considered the most challenging PS5 repair — it needs a hot-air rework station, fine-tip soldering iron, 20-40x microscope, halogen-free flux and desoldering wick. A botched install can lift pads, short the APU rails or permanently brick the console. We strongly recommend professional installation. Bring it to our Forest Lake workshop and our bench tech will handle it.
Will this work on PS5 Slim or PS5 Pro?+
No. This part is verified for the original PS5 (CFI-1000, CFI-1100, CFI-1200 — both Disc and Digital). PS5 Slim (CFI-2000) and PS5 Pro (CFI-7000) use different motherboard layouts and are not vendor-confirmed compatible. Do not risk it on those models — return policy does not cover wrong-model installation attempts.
Is this real HDMI 2.1 or rebadged HDMI 2.0?+
Real HDMI 2.1 — full 48 Gbps bandwidth. We bench-test for VRR enable, PSVR2 handshake and 4K at 120Hz pass on every batch we stock. The cheap eBay parts that flood the market are often re-labelled HDMI 2.0 (18 Gbps) — they "work" for a normal display but cap PS5 at 4K 60Hz, fail PSVR2 handshake and disable VRR. We do not sell those.
Where do I find my CFI model number?+
Flip the console over and look at the silver or black label near the serial number — the CFI number is printed there (for example CFI-1100A or CFI-1200B). The letter at the end tells you Disc Edition (A) or Digital Edition (B). The number tells you the revision — 1000 (launch 2020), 1100 (revised 2021), or 1200 (slimmer revised 2022). All three revisions accept this same HDMI 2.1 connector.
My PS5 has sparkles, snow or green flashes — will this fix it?+
Usually yes, if a different HDMI cable does not fix it. Sparkles, snow and random colour blocks are classic symptoms of damaged differential pairs inside the HDMI port — caused by a tugged cable bending the internal pins. The replacement port restores all four lanes of clean signal. If artifacts persist after a quality install, the next suspect is the HDMI driver IC on the motherboard (board-level repair).
Why does my PSVR2 fail to handshake on a port that "works"?+
PSVR2 needs the full HDMI 2.1 bandwidth to handshake. Even a marginally damaged port that "works" for a regular TV will fail PSVR2 because the headset is more demanding on signal integrity. Replacing the port with a true OEM-spec HDMI 2.1 component restores PSVR2 handshake and tracking stability.
How long does the install job take in your Forest Lake workshop?+
Bench time on the actual install is around 60-90 minutes — disassembly, port desolder, pad clean-up, new port reflow, signal test on a 4K HDR display, reassembly. Will replacing the port void my Sony warranty?+
Yes — opening the PS5 chassis breaks the tamper sticker and voids any remaining Sony manufacturer warranty. Most PS5 owners with broken HDMI ports are already past the 12 month manufacturer cover window or had a console damaged by a tugged cable (which Sony classifies as accidental damage, not a warranty event). If your console is still in-warranty and you can describe the failure as a sudden loss of signal under normal use, contact Sony first.
Is there a warranty on the connector itself?+
No long-form warranty applies to this aftermarket hardware connector — it is sold as a bench-inspected repair part. We bench-test every unit for solder pad continuity and signal pass before dispatch. If your part arrives with bent pins, cracked plastic or fails an arrival inspection, contact us for replacement. Once installed, the part is covered by the install workmanship — repair-shop installs are warranted by the shop that did the work; DIY installs are at the installer's risk because pad damage during install is not a part fault.
