A double-sided transfer tape is a thin layer of pure acrylic adhesive on a release liner. Both sides are sticky. There is no thick foam core. The bond line is very thin so it sits flush in tight repair channels. Foam-cored double-sided tape is much thicker, fills gaps and absorbs vibration. Choose transfer tape for phone screens, fine craft and PCB work. Choose foam tape for structural panel bonding.
Is 3mm a good width for phone screen repair?+
Yes. Modern slim-bezel smartphones have border channels of around 2-4mm. The 3mm width fits these channels cleanly without trimming. It bonds the digitiser, LCD frame and back glass with an almost invisible bond line. Wider rolls of 6mm or 12mm need to be slit on the bench. The 3mm format saves time on every repair.
Can I use this for automotive pinstripe and trim?+
Yes. 3mm is the standard width for automotive pinstripe tape. Use this tape to bond vinyl pinstripe, trim strips and decorative lines to painted body panels.
