    Most card cases rely on a flap or simple slot — cards slip out when the case is empty. The Mercury Goospery Rail 2 uses a sliding rail chamber moulded into the back of the case. Cards slot in from the side and lock against an internal rail. Even with just one card inside, it stays put.

    How many cards can the Rail 2 hold?+
    Up to 2 standard credit-card-thickness cards comfortably. If your cards are thinner than the ISO 7810 standard, a third card may slide in. The internal rail still locks even when only 1 card is loaded.
    Do my cards stay in if I drop the phone?+
    Yes. The internal rail mechanism grips the card edges so they cannot slide out from impact alone. Cards only release when you push them out using the side cutout with your thumb.
    Does it work with MagSafe accessories?+
    No. The internal rail chamber sits where the MagSafe ring on the iPhone 17 is located, which blocks magnet alignment. Standard Qi 7.5W wireless charging still works through the case. If you want MagSafe wallet, picker or mount, choose a MagSafe-clear case instead.
    Will it fit my iPhone 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max or 17 Air?+
    No. This case is cut for the standard iPhone 17 (6.3-inch) only. The 17 Pro has a different triple-lens camera island. The 17 Pro Max is a larger 6.9-inch frame. The 17 Air uses a thinner chassis. Order the model-specific Rail 2 case for those phones.
    Can I tap and pay without taking the card out?+
    For most NFC bank card readers, yes — but with a card already inside the case, hold the card-side of the phone to the terminal. Some terminals may pick up your phone's NFC ahead of the card. For best results, slide the card out for the tap.
    Will my Go Card or Opal card work through the case?+
    Yes. Australian transit cards (Go Card, Opal, Myki) work through the back of the case at most readers. Hold the back of the case flat to the reader for a clean read. Slide the card out if a particular gate is slow to detect.
    How slim is it compared to a normal case?+
    The Rail 2 chamber is recessed into the back of the case rather than sitting on top of it. The result is only marginally thicker than a standard slim case — far slimmer than a folio wallet case. Slides into jeans, jacket and bag pockets without bulk.
    Will the transparent variant turn yellow over time?+
    The clear back panel is rigid PC plastic, which resists UV-yellowing far better than soft TPU-only clear cases. Expect the transparent variant to stay clear well past a year of daily use, where budget clear cases yellow within months.
